Capt. Edgar M. Ruhl Camp No. 33, SUVCW meets at the York County Government Center,
West Market and South Beaver Streets on occasional Sundays throughout the year.

Join the ranks! We are always on the lookout for "new" members to join us. If you are a descendant of a Civil War Veteran who served in the Union Army, or wish to become a fraternal member as a result of your interest in Civil War history, we welcome you to join Camp #33. Although some of our members participate in Civil War re-enactments, that is not the function of our organization. Our mission (stated below) is to honor the memory of those who served our country to preserve our nation during the Civil War.
For more information on membership or an application, please contact Ivan E. Frantz, Jr. (our Secretary/Treasurer).

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic, desiring to pass on their heritage.  On August 20, 1954, the S.U.V.C.W. was officially incorporated by an Act of Congress by the passing of Public Law 605 of the second session of the 83rd Congress.  The S.U.V.C.W. strives to perpetuate the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic and the men who fought to preserve the unity and indivisibility of our Union.  We also honor the memory of the wartime President, Abraham Lincoln.  We do this by sponsoring and participating in ceremonies and programs to commemorate events and honor leaders and personalities of the Civil War period and events important to the history of the G.A.R.; the erecting, maintaining and preserving of monuments and plaques commemorating events and people of the Civil War; supporting the preservation of Civil War battlefields and sites; collecting and preserving records, artifacts, and memorabilia of the G.A.R. and the Civil War; locating, recording, and marking the graves of Civil War veterans; decorating the graves of Civil War veterans on Memorial Day and other occasions; presenting scholarship awards for Civil War studies; encouraging research and writing on the Civil War period; publishing a quarterly journal, THE BANNER; and engaging in other related activities.
