Members of Camp 33 rededicated the grave of and replaced the weather damaged headstone on Pvt. John Jacob Horlebein's grave in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York.  On Sept. 13, 1861, Horlebein enlisted in Co. E, 87th Pennsylvania Volunteers Infantry.  He was among 59 soldiers captured on June 23, 1864 by the Confederates during the Battle of Weldon Railroad, near Petersburg, VA.  He was held at Andersonville prison in Georgia until March 18, 1865, when he was paroled.  He returned to the U.S. Army Hospital in York, where he died six days later.

May 1996

Members of Camp 33 rededicated the graves of Civil War Generals William B. Franklin and Michael P. Small in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York.  The stone markers on the graves were beginning to show wear and become hard to read.  The new markers duplicated the wording of the original stones and they were placed adjacent to the originals.
